GUIDED BIOFILM THERAPY (GBT)

A Gentle, Modern Approach to a Healthier Smile

At Pearl Dental, our hygiene appointments are designed to do more than just clean your teeth, they help protect your long-term oral health.

We are proud to offer Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT), an advanced and minimally invasive hygiene treatment that removes plaque, stains and harmful bacteria in a much gentler and more comfortable way.

Whether you want to improve your gum health, maintain fresh breath, remove staining, or simply enjoy a more comfortable hygiene experience, our team is here to help.

What is Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)?

GBT is a modern hygiene treatment that focuses on the gentle removal of biofilm, which is the soft plaque bacteria that builds up on the teeth and gums and can lead to gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath.

Using advanced Airflow technology, warm water and a fine powder, GBT removes plaque and surface stains with far less discomfort than traditional cleaning methods. Any remaining hardened deposits can then be removed carefully and precisely.

This means a more comfortable, more personalised, and more effective clean.

What to Expect at Your Hygiene Appointment

1. Plaque Disclosure

We apply a special dye to highlight areas of biofilm on the teeth. This helps us identify exactly where treatment is needed and allows you to see the areas that need more attention at home.

2. Gentle Airflow Cleaning

Using warm water, air and a fine powder, we gently remove plaque, biofilm and surface staining from the teeth.

3. Precision Removal of Remaining Deposits

If there is any tartar or calculus left behind, this is removed carefully using gentle ultrasonic technology.

4. Personalised Oral Hygiene Advice

We guide you on the best ways to care for your teeth and gums at home, including brushing technique, flossing and interdental cleaning.
