the area may stay numb for a few hours — take care not to bite your cheek or lip, and stick to soft, lukewarm foods until sensation returns. You'll go home with clear aftercare instructions and any medication you need.
Mild swelling, bruising and tenderness are normal for 2–3 days. A cold compress (10 minutes on, 20 off) for the first 48 hours keeps this to a minimum — sleeping slightly propped up helps too.
Alcohol, smoking, hot drinks and strenuous exercise can all slow healing. Smoking reduces implant success rates, so stopping — even temporarily — gives your implant the best chance to integrate well.
You'll leave with a Curasept implant care kit — antibacterial mouthwash, low-abrasion toothpaste, soothing gel and an ultra-soft surgical brush — designed to protect healing tissue while keeping the area clean.
Sutures are usually removed 2–3 weeks after surgery, at an appointment we'll arrange for you.
Call the practice if you notice ongoing numbness beyond 12 hours, worsening pain or swelling, bleeding that won’t settle, a raised temperature, or anything else that concerns you.
Your personalised quote follows your consultation. Bone grafting, sinus augmentation, temporary crowns or additional implants may carry separate fees — all explained clearly before treatment begins.
Most healthy adults are good candidates. At your consultation we’ll assess your oral health, bone levels and medical history to confirm implants are right for you.
Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure. Mild discomfort afterwards is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief.
This varies by individual, but typically takes around 3–6 months from placement to final restoration.
A 3D scan will confirm whether you have sufficient bone. If not, bone grafting can often rebuild what’s needed for successful treatment.
Smoking increases the risk of implant failure and complications during healing, so we strongly encourage stopping before and after treatment where possible.
